Advait was standing in the balcony of his bedroom and the past memories splashed over his brain, haunting his current life. No matter what happens, his demons always return to him.
No matter how hard he tries to forget those awful memories, he always gets stuck in the dark slumber of his past. Advait Agnihotry has changed himself into a better man. A man who doesn't care. A man who is ready to risk his life in a heartbeat if that's to safeguard his family.
He has built his walls and doesn't allow anyone to cross through them. No one.
Marriage. Once there was a certain period in his life that he was eager to marry the love of his life but his heart got scrambled and so did his capability to feel anything.
He ran his hands through his hair and rested them upon the side of his neck while trying to normalise his harsh breathing. He closed his eyes and released a breath.
Peace, he needed peace and a break so he let the contagious fag to take over his brain. Temporary
( Smoking is contagious and harmful for your health, Kindly avoid smoking)
He placed the fag between his lips and took the lighter, placed inside his drawer and lit up his cigarette, he sucked on a breathe, letting the poison enterย inside his lungs and released all his stress in the form of smoke.
His movements went still when he heard a knock on his door, but he didn't bother to stop smoking before opening the door. He walked up towards his door and opened his door with a harsh Swift, thinking that it might be the twins.
" Can you-" His words were hung in the middle as he saw his mother standing outside his door.
" May I come inside? " Shweta asked with a pained smile on her face. She was a mother and no mother in this world can see their children struggling and in pain. Although she knew, Her son was perfect, she couldn't help being worried about him all the time.
" You never have to take my permission Maa "
Advait let out a guilty sigh and moved towards his desk to crush the stick on the ashtray. No mother will love the idea of his son smoking right?
He motioned her mother to sit on his bed and sat beside her. Shweta crossed her legs on his bed and Patted on her thighs, indicating him to sleep on his lap.
Without any second thought, Advait lay down on the bed by placing his head on the warm embrace of his mother and he felt exceptional as soon as his mother's hands found the way towards his head, caressing his hair and giving soft pats on his chest.
" Are you feeling good? " His mother asked him, hoping to make him feel a bit relaxed.
" I feel at ease whenever you are around Maa, No question asked "ย
He let out a relaxing sigh and later closed his eyes to have some moments of peace on his mother's lap.
" I am sorry, for not asking about your opinion and....you know just before asking Divya..about Diya's hand in marriage " She choked on her own words and her eyes blurred as soon as the words left her lips.
Advait rose from her lap as soon as he realised his mother's broken voice. He looked at her mother who was on the verge of crying and was fighting the tears from leaving her eyes but she couldn't hold back when she looked into the eyes of her son.
Advait extended his hands towards her mother's eyes to wipe the tears falling down to her redden cheeks.
" I feel like punching myself whenever I am the reason behind your tears, Maa " He spoke with a pained smile.
" You remember your promise ? " Shweta gave him hopeful eyes which he can never ignore. Rewinding his memory, he thought about the day his mother was speaking of.
FLASHBACK
" You are 27 Advait, Do you want me to die before seeing the faces of my grandkids? " Shweta taunted him.
" Maa, Do not joke about such things. Just be glad that your husband didn't listen to those words coming out of your mouth " He gave a horrified look to her mother.
" Do I not deserve a Daughter " She pouted like a little child.
He rolled his eyes and answered her.
" You already have Aashu, why bother having another trouble"
" Okay, Seriously, tell me when you'll get married "
" Is your Son not enough for you that you want a Daughter-in-law?"
" Daughters are always better than Sons"
" Says the one who has 2 well grown men as her sons"
" My bad. Now tell me when you will get married?"
" Seriously? Maa? " He sighed. " Maybe after I settle the things in the company"
Her mother smiled as soon as he gave his words.
" Do not back off. Be a Man " She narrowed her gaze on him and he laughed.
" Promise, Maa "
Shweta held her elder son's hands and said the words she had kept hidden in her heart.
" Adi, I know you aren't ready yet and I am not pressurising you at all. I know you are still...upset and angry but everything happens for a reason. I am sure she is out of your life for the better good. Maybe the future has another thing coming for you? Maybe god has better plans for you? Also You are destined to be with the best girl, Son. Just wait till she shows up in your life and move on from the past "
" I already did, Maa " Advait smiled at his mother's concern. She rose from the chair and was about to leave, but she paused in the middle of the room.
" And Adii."
" Hmm "
" I won't mind even if it's a Boy"
" Hm- What !? "
Later the room was filled with Shweta's laughter and Advait's horrified gasp.
FLASHBACK ENDS
Both of them smiled at the memory and chuckled.
"So, is it a boy? You know I am totally Okay with this"
" Mom! Seriously? " He sighed.
" Okay, Okay, Now tell me what's wrong with the thought of having Diya as my Daughter-in-law?"
" She is Diya Sharma, Mom"
" Exactly, She is Diya Sharma. The most potential one to be your Wife" Shweta completed these words with dreamy eyes.
" No. Mom, she is my business partner."
" So? Where is it written that you cannot marry your business partners or your buddies from work? She is talented, the most talented business woman in the country and she is also listed in the FORBES. The only Wiman who managed to secure a position in the top 10. I don't think it is a bad idea? " She pointed out.
" Okay, but why Diya? And not anyone else? "
" How many people you have worked with in the past?" She asked while raising her brow.
" There are many, not countable " He answered.
" How many were your business partners? " She further continued her questionnaire.
" There were at least 10 to 15, All of them " He nodded.
" Which one stayed till the last? The one you are working with till date?"
His eyes widened a bit as soon as realisation hit on his head. His mother's words left him speechless. Yeah, It was true that Diya was the oldest one among his partners. She is the only Woman who lasted till date and dealt with this hot headed Man.
" Exactly, Son. She is the only one who can deal with you" A smile of victory covered on her face and she rose up from the bed.
" Mom, by any chance, Did you just call me annoying? " He questioned his mother amd she giggled.
" Did I? " She gave him a smile and walked out of his room, leaving him in slumber of thoughts.
